It’s been an eventful year at USM. The two biggest pieces of news involve follow-up on the AYA grievance from last year and the faculty and program cuts this April.

AYA Update:

Adjuncts' 2% pay hike in June 30 paychecks

From UMS Human Resources:

Dear Colleague: We are pleased to inform you that the University of Maine System and the Maine Part-Time Faculty Association, American Federation of Teachers Local #4593 recently ratified collective bargaining agreement provides wage increases for the contract period September 1, 2013-August 31, 2015.

Union Members Question UW Provost Cauce at Town Hall Meeting

Union members Aleksandra Petrovich and Donna Schaeffer attended the UW Townhall meeting with Provost Ana Mari Cauce and asked her for an explanation for the long delay in contract negotiations between UW and the English Language Faculty. The English Language Faculty has been negotiating for their first contract with the UW since March 2012.

Thank you for the chance to share my thoughts about the proposed budget. 

My name is Michael Pfau, I am an Associate Professor in the Department of Communication at the University of Minnesota Duluth, and President of the University Education Association – UMD’s faculty union.
