This month kicked off with the annual LFT Winter Conference. Members from Locals all over the state came together for the one-day summit in Baton Rouge.  Presentations mostly focused on the upcoming legislative session: our priorities as an organization and what to expect from the new legislators in the House and Senate.

All members of bargaining unit E should have received a ballot to ratify the amendment to the MOU.  Due to the delay in mailing, we have decided to extend the deadline for receipt of the ballots.  Therefore, we will count ballots on Friday, March

How much will my incentive payout be?

Members in Inpatient will receive 108.8% of the 3% target (approximately 3.26% of 2019 compensated hours*).

Members in Outpatient will receive 88.8% of the 3% target (approximately 2.66% of 2019 compensated hours*).

Harrisburg, PA, Thursday, February 27, 2020— AFT Pennsylvania, on Thursday, issued the following statement following an Executive Council vote to endorse Harold “Howie” Hayes for State Representative in the 18th District special election on March 17th:

Implementing the Kirwan Commission recommendations is a once-in-a lifetime opportunity to make significant changes to the way Maryland students are educated. These changes will have particular effects on Baltimore City Public School students as well as students from Prince George’s county.

Contract Ratifications

Voting members of the City Union of Baltimore (CUB) overwhelmingly ratified recent contract negotiations. Membership in CUB is broken down by those employed in the Baltimore City Public School System, and those employed by the city of Baltimore. One hundred percent of the members employed by the school system voted to ratify that contract.
