CFT Legislative Report Card

The California Federation of Teachers has published its annual legislative report card for 2009.  The past year has not been kind to teachers as the state legislature continues to grapple with huge budget deficits.  Many tough legislative battles are already brewing for the education profession in 2010 as well. I have attached a portion of the CFT report card and you can also read more at cft.org, click resources.  Click on the title of this summary and you will see some of the new laws in the field of education effective January 2010.

The District's Deficit Reaches $1.5 million

At Wednesday night's Budget Advisory Committee meeting, CBO Audrey Kilpatrick stated that the district will need to cut at least $1.5 million from the budget, not including the $200,000 annual loan payment. 

ODE Code of Conduct

The Ohio Department of Education is holding Teachers to these standards. If they find that you have violated these standards, you could permanently loose your Teaching License. There is Little that the Union can do to help you!

School Board Approves the $2,000,000 CTE Loan

The School Board voted 3-2 to approve financing for the $2,000,000 CTE loan.  The members voted accordingly:

  • Kathleen Amos
  • Dennis Richardson

Board Workshop Update Regarding $2,000,000 loan

For four hours on Saturday moring the Board held a workshop to discuss the different options available to them for servicing the debt on the proposed $2,000,000 CTE  loan.  Among the results of this meeting, the Board advised the District Office staff to dip into JPA funds in order to reduce the burden on the general fund.  There is also a question as to whether the district fronted up to $800,000 of bond into this project.  Click on the title to read more...
