Welcome to our Website!!!

The BOCES United Professionals website lives here! AFT, our national union, provides us this space for free, where we can share the news and documents you're used to finding on our website.

We have moved content from our old site to here. For instance, the minutes from Delegates Assembly meetings are available under the menu listing titled "Resources." If there's anything you'd like to see here, suggest it, and/or write it up and submit it.

Compound Drugs Require Prior Authorization

New guidelines have been issued by the Comptroller's Office which now require that, under our health plan, prior authorization be obtained  for compound medications containing non-FDA approved ingredients.  The issuance of the new guidelines was made by the Comptroller's Office without the consent of SEBAC.  As a result SEBAC has filed a grievance contesting the state's right to unilaterally establish guidelines without SEBAC's consent.  Follow the link to an FAQ issued by the Co

Eight DPS Restructured Schools for 2015-2016 [posted 5-12-2015]

Eight DPS schools will be restructured for the upcoming 2015-2016 school year:

Carstens, Coleman Young, Gardner, Henderson, Marquette, Mason, Sampson and Thirkell.

(Please disregard previous information posted with job posting and interview dates.  THERE ARE NO INTERVIEWS SCHEDULED ON MAY 15TH OR 16TH FOR SUPPORT STAFF.)

Instructional and non-instructional staff at the above mentioned schools will be instructed to go through an interviewing process as these school will restructure staff. (Restructuring process will NOT impact Pre-K Early Childhood or the Office of School Nutrition programs)   Staff including principals and assistant principals are required to interview for positions.

Job posting for non-instructional and support staff will be posted as staff will need to apply online before interview process begin.

Interviews may be conducted at the Hotel St. Regis and/or school location for non-instructional and support staff (Interview dates and times areTBD).  Interviews will be conducted by selected principals and leadership team of the eight schools.  In the event you are not selected for a position at one of the eight schools you may be assigned to a school location and/or eligible to interview for an available vacant position for which you are qualified for.

I have voiced some concerns to the Office of Labor Relations Chief Officer, Gwendolyn deJongh, regarding this process and how it will impact members.  I have asked the school district to reconsider having SSA's to re-apply and interview for their jobs.  Many SSA’s have been in their school location for many years and have gained seniority.  The possibility of being assigned to another location is not fair as we loose building seniority and become the first to be laid off or terminated if budgets are cut.  I have received no reply from Mrs. deJongh.

I will keep you posted details are released.
